RIP Randy - 10-15-2009

01/13/2008 --- Randal was rescued from a terrible puppymill. He was a matted mess. He has decided he likes walking on the ground after spending his entire life walking on the wire of the cage floor. He is about 7 years old and is looking for his first ever Forever Home. He is about 8 pounds and should weigh about 10 pounds.

02/29/2008 Randy was neutered , had his dental and had a tumor removed from his mouth.

03/10/2008

Randy has had 2 pretty intense seizures since his arrival. He is on medication to control them. The medication has also made him not so terrified of people.

11/11/2008 - Randy is doing good on his meds. Still has a bad seizure every now and then.

10/15/2009 - Randys mouth tumor came back with a vengance. It went all the way down his neck, and filled his mouth. He lost alot of weight from not being able to eat to good. Rest in Peace Randy , our little Hoser.

People always ask how I can feed them all like this and not have fights. Its easy , I stand there and make sure that they do not act up. If they do they are removed from the "table" , told we have enough for everyone , let sit in time out for 5 minutes. And then we try again... repete until the hard heads get the idea that they will NOT act up over food. NO dog leaves here food aggressive.

My good friend who lives in Plattsmouth Nebraska , called me the Wednesday to tell me his computer is broke , I told him to bring it to me Sunday and I would fix it , I have many spare parts from dead computers.

That same day, Platsmouth Animal Control calls me to take a Schnauzer poodle from a hoarder case. She has had NO manners training and is 8 years old, has #35 tattooed in her ear...

This girl has been at the shelter since May and is going nutzo... he went and sprung her today...

This is Baby Lynn. She is a Schnoodle (Schnauzer & Poodle mix) who is between seven and eight years old. She is desperately needing a loving person (or people) and a happy forever home. She's had a really sad and lonely existence for the last five months. She was removed from a home that housed way too many pets (35 total - 30 of them cats and kittens) on May 29, 2009. She has lived at the Plattsmouth Animal Shelter ever since and all her housemates have since been adopted - she's the only one left! She is very lonely and cries when put back in her kennel. She is well taken care of and loved but nevertheless, left all alone for those long nights at the shelter. She is loved by all but somehow, still homeless! She's a delicate, little girl who loves to be cuddled. While she has gotten along with some of the other shelter residents, she would really prefer to be your one and only. She has had some minor issues with some of the younger and feistier dogs and puppies - understandable as she is an older, laid back girl. Although she gets along fine with humans, younger children might be too rough for her. If you would like to be a "one dog family", she'd be the "one dog" for you! She's ideal - instant love and devotion without all the work of potty and puppy training! She is VERY SAD to be alone at the shelter and you could be the one to make the rest of her life perfect!

Mable

Mable is nearly 200 years old and just keeps on going. Mabel was found as a stray, virtually skin over bones. She was taken to the shelter where someone recognized her because of her missing front teeth. She had previously lived with an elderly lady who died. She lost her front teeth in a car accident. How she got to be stray is unknown. Unless she got out when the EMT's came for her momma. She is just as sweet as sugar. A lady named Sandy pulled her from the shelter on her last day. Only to find out that she lived next door to an arrogant dog hating cop. She asked me to take her as she was one over the city limit on dogs.

A toe biter not an ankle biter

This is Peepie , poor boy has lost his momma to cancer. Arrived here on Thursday night , its now Sunday and he has nonchalantly walked up and bit my big toe TWICE. He just got hold of it when I administered a correction, so it was not a hard bite.

Then today the Fluff and Buff team came by and he went after Andreas toes TWICE, she had on sneakers so all he got was a mouth full of shoe.

I am sure the boy is traumatized , he had been in his house for months with just someone coming to feed him.

why are my adoption fees are so high?????????

I received an email this morning asking me why my adoption fees are so high. I charge $200 for adults , $100 for seniors and $300 for a puppy, IF we ever have any puppies. And if we do get puppies there is something wrong with them that we have to pay to get fixed.

These charges do not even begin to cover the outgo. I spent $22,249.42 this last license year (10/01/08-09/30/09) on dog food and Vet care. Not including my $250 license fee to clean up after the State of Nebraska. I am donated a lot of dog food by dog food companies and I have the best Vet in the world for giving me a break on Vet care. I am very frugal when buying what I need for the dogs. I beg off every dog product maker. Or I would have spent twice that amount, very easily.

The cost to vet one dog that has no health issues , (spay/neuter, dental , shots and heart worm test) is $150.00. Some of the dogs here cost me well over that. Murphy cost $830.00 , Cheri has cost me $285.00 , Casper is up to $300.00 now and we are not done yet.
