Amber Jay - and a big lesson

Amber arrived here on 05/15/2008. She came from a Missouri puppymill , stayed at another rescue for a year. There she stayed in a kennel building and never turned the corner to become friendly to humans. So I was asked to take her, so she could come in the house and learn to trust humans and become a house dog.

I went to Hiawatha Kansas to meet the rescue lady who was bringing me Amber and another peke named Miles. We met at the McDonald's , a frequent meeting spot. Debra opened up the travel crate in which she had Miles and Amber. Did not shut the crate door and turned to hand me Miles. Amber Jay took off like a shot across the parking lot. We herded her for an hour towards each other and did not catch her. She finally went under a car that was parked up against the curb and she only had 3 ways out. And thankfully a nice man in a suit with LONG arms reached under the car and pulled her out.

One must never ever leave a crate door open on a transport of mill dogs. They are terrified of humans and will run like the wind. You will most likely not catch them , they will not come to anyone and they will either starve to death or be ran over in the road.
